The forces behind Visium

Alen has a MSc in Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Management from Imperial College London, where he was awarded best-overall performance. Alen has founded five companies, which gave him the entrepreneurial experience and skills that talyzed the success of his latest venture, Visium. In 2018, Alen was named top 30 under 30 by Forbes for his accomplishments.

Timon has a MSc in Data Science from EPFL. Before co-founding Visium, Timon worked as a ML researcher at Schlumberger and Oracle. Timon won numerous hackathons, including Microsoft Challenge and Facebook Hackathon. In 2019, Timon was selected as part of the "Forum des 100", for his contribution to the dynamism of French-speaking Switzerland.

Matteo has a MSc in Bioengineering from EPFL and Stanford University. Subsequently, he completed his PhD in Machine Learning and Computational Biology at ETH. During his PhD, he pushed forward the state-of-the-art in Graph Machine Learning and had the honour of giving a spotlight presentation of his paper at NeurIPS, one of the world's largest ML conferences.

Thomas joined Visium during his Bachelor's at EHL, where he finished 3rd in his class. Prior to that, he was Head of Finance for EHL’s Finance Board, and worked for several years in various companies, including Movenpick Hotels and Resorts as chef de rang. Thomas’ meticulous analytical skills have been crucial in allowing us to thrive in uncertain times.

Lucas has a BSc in International Hospitality Management from EHL, where he finished 6th in his class. Prior to joining Visium, he worked for several years in the hospitality industry as a trained chef, waiter and sales advisor. Lucas’ hard-working, innovative and ambitious mind-set allowed Lucas to progress quickly throughout the organisation and fuel the growth of our company in the last few years.

Fady has a BSc with a double major in Finance and Business Administration and Management from the International Management School of Geneva. Fady’s unique range of professional experiences in different industries and functions allowed him to play a critical role in structuring some of our departments, before he became People Operations Manager in 2019.

Karthigan has a MSc in Data Science with a specialization in Deep Learning from EPFL, complemented by various Machine Learning internships. He wrote a paper, with Professor Francois Flueret and Vincent Micheli from the University of Geneva, on ‘Multi-task Reinforcement Learning with a Planning-Quasi Metric’, presented at NeurIPS 2020 - the world’s largest ML Conference.

Gaétan has a Master’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from EPFL. Prior to joining Visium, Gaétan interned at NVISO, developing software for translation of Caffe models to custom machine learning framework for embedded devices. Gaétan completed his Master Thesis at Swisscom’s Digital Lab, on Speech emotion recognition and localization with neural networks.

Leonard has a Master’s in Computer Science from EPFL. Prior to joining Visium, Leonard worked on an electronics project at DomoSafety, building a device to simulate user input on an IoT device for debugging purposes, as well as at AXA, where he also wrote his Master Thesis on Information Retrieval in Contracts using NLP Techniques.

Thibault has a MSc in Communication Systems from EPFL. Prior to joining Visium, Thibault worked at Coorpacademy as a Project Manager and completed his Master’s Thesis at Sony, building a ML system to automatically generate deep learning networks for image classification. Thibault’s impressive passion and expertise in machine learning has fueled much of our growth.

Guillaume has a MSc in Computational Science and Engineering from EPFL. Before Visium, Guillaume worked as a Data Scientist at Dathena, seeking to speed up machine learning classification processes applied to Natural Language Processing. His Master's Thesis focused on Reinforcement Learning applied to Epidemiology at the Digital Epidemiology Lab of Geneva’s Biotech Campus.

Adrien has a MSc in Computational Science and Engineering from EPFL, where he was teaching assistant, helping students in algorithmic analysis, numerical analysis, linear algebra and chemistry. Before Visium Adrien was a Machine Learning Engineer at SenSat and at CSEM, where he also completed his Master Thesis on 'Sample efficient Deep Reinforcement Learning for energy control in buildings.'

Jimi has a MSc in Data Science from EPFL. Before Visium, Jimi launched his professional career with a range of technical experiences, including as a back-end and front-end developer at TasteHit and at Vlynt, as a Machine Learning Intern at Schlumberger, and a Research Intern at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton.

Greg has a MSc in Data Science from EPFL. At EPFL, Greg co-founded two ventures, including a successful web development company. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Greg used his resourcefulness to create a web app for his family’s bakery, allowing for online orders and enabling them to continue operating safely.

Renato has a MSc in Physics from ETH Zurich, where he also co-founded the ETH Analytics Club. In 2019 Renato published a paper on Machine Learning for automated tuning of Quantum Dots which could be used to make initializing Quantum Computers more scalable. Renato's business and technical expertise has been a pivotal contribution to our team and our success in the last years.

Simon has a MSc in Physics from ETH, and is completing a PhD in AI for the Study of Environmental Risks at the University of Cambridge. At ETH, Simon co-founded the Analytics Club, and founded Hack4Good. Simon’s strong social consciousness and desire to use ML for good, pushed him to develop and lead our sustainability strategy and lead for our pro-bono projects.

Dženita recently completed her Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Economics in a double-degree program between SSST University (B&H) and the University of Buckingham (UK). Before joining Visium, Dženita successfully completed 3 Software Engineering internships, became IEEE and BOLD Fellow for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, and participated in 2 research publications acquiring a vast skillset and experience.

Razvan is currently completing a MSc in Computer Science from ETH. Prior to joining Visium Razvan worked as a researcher at the Romanian Institute of Science and Technology. He also worked on a project using IoT integration, computer vision techniques and web and mobile support to build a smart fridge aimed at cutting food waste.
